Chromosome 1 contains nearly twice as many genes as the average chromosome and makes up eight percent of the human genetic code. It is packed with 3,141 genes and linked to 350 illnesses including cancer, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. Guest gmcp Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Great news! Francis Collins, director of the project, is a native of my town, and I've heard him speak. He's a very nice, humble person. The success of the project should bring about GREAT advances in the health/science industries.
