ethsnafu
Hi from London (currently)..... Anyone heading to Manchester next weekend? Hi from Sheffield (sadly)..... Greetings Kiya and may I extend you a sincerely warm welcome to the board and hope you have a great time around these parts and make many new chums to boot. I'm certainly heading to Manchester next weekend, stopping with chums and seeking out the mighty Lance on Sunday 18th. I'm actually really excited in a child-wakes-up-christmas-morn sorta way, gonna get the opportunity, hopefully, to meet Malcolm McDowell and Danny Dyer as well as they're also in the mix. Hope we get the chance to speak, share some chestnuts and scrumpy or whatever. Look for a large crowd of geeks in homemade t-shirts and that'll be the ethsnafu-nerd-brigade. Best wishes, Eth. Guest Kiya
Thanks for the welcome, Eth! As for "the large crowd of geeks in homemade t-shirts "...erm...won't that be about 50% of the Collectormania attendees? I've got a train booked for Saturday morning (at an unholy hour indeed), which'll take 3 1/2hrs to get there - so be glad you're in Sheffield! I've yet to find a room for the night, which is sending me into a slight panic already..but as the H-Man is now also holding a talk on the Sunday, what choice have I got? *ho-hum* Anyone got basement space in an empty yellow house? Kiya..giggling stupidly at the fact that her forum rank inadvertently matches her sig. Link to comment

Guest Kiya
Welcome to the site! Thank you, sir! I figured you're still kinda hovering around that basement ;) so I went ahead and booked a hotel room for Manchester. Bring on the weekend! Link to comment
ethsnafu
Oh Gosh! Did you need a room? Forgive me I didn't pick up on that part of your message. I would have probably been able to help. Me and the nerd squad are heading for a few shandies and a bit of wild body popping on the Saturday night so if you or anyone else fancies showing us some moves then send me a pm and i'll let you know which gutter we will be lying in and when. Oh no! You can't tell me that a whopping 95 quid later! It's okay though, I've managed to coerce a friend into tagging along and as she's paying 1/2, it's bearable. (just! LOL) We definitely want to go and unsettle some parts of Manchester Saturday night, so if the nerd squad can handle two chicks at once, we'd love to come along and laugh at your dance moves! *evil cackle* Will pm you pronto... ethsnafu
Betcha By Golly Wow! Well I'm sure the crew can handle two fellow nerdites. I shall PM you in the morning when I've had chance to check what the other geeks have planned. Methinks its a trawl down the fanous Canal Street, a few baked potatoes and a bucket of Vodka Red Bulls but I'm not entirely sure what the timetable is. And trust me you won't be laughing at our funky moves, I can do Crounching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Round The Handbag, Shimmy and Dancing-Like-Your-Old-Fella-When-Pissed. All this and a promise of wild, acid-house freaking with glow sticks. Bring on the Lanceman and a vat of Alka Seltzer. Edited November 12, 2007 by ethsnafu Link to comment

Sounds more like a trip to New Orleans what with the "famous Canal Street" and the activities you seem to have planned. Link to comment
ethsnafu
Sadly not my friend, we are having to make do with the grim north of England with its dark, satanic mills and wuthering heights and so on and so forth. My greatest desire is to holiday in New Orleans, it is a place and culture that has had me in its sway for a age. We have an eatery near me called The Old Orleans that specialises in Creole cuisine and it is my spiritual home where I get my injection of Cafe Brulot and Dirty Rice. I am currenlty finishing my third biography of Marie Laveau, a woman who has held my fascination since I was a child, and if ever I overcome my phobia of flying then one day I will visit Saint Louis Cemetery. Unfortunately we are having to do our revellry under grey skies but a healthy swig of something noxious has enough hoodoo to make even Madchester seem sunny. Link to comment
