I quite like Dod Kalm.

Me too. I liked "Dod Kalm", and "The Field Where I Died".

Dod Kalm isn't the best episode ever but it isn't bad. The Field where I died is pretty good for the most part excepting the occasional ropey acting by Cloke and Duchovny.

Dod Calm had some good elements (which were later recycled in mythology episodes) but when Mulder & Scully start aging it becomes an unwatchable mess. TFWID isn't that bad. It's an average ep that tries to be something better but fails a bit.

Having watched S9 a few times now, I should really do my top 5 best/worst to cap off my initial post. So...

Best.

1. Audrey Pauley.

2. Underneath.

3. Improbable.

4. Scary Monsters.

5. Release.

Very difficult as contrary to what many are saying, I really love S9. I could easily have included 'Daemonicus', '4-D' or 'Sunshine Days' (surprisingly great despite seeming like it would be terrible). In the end though I stand by my first 5.

Worst.

1. Nothing important happened today 1/2.

2. Lord of the Flies.

3. Trust NO1.

4. Jump the Shark.

5. The Truth.

Basically, just the mytharc episodes (Provenance/Providence aside), and the non serious X-Files really. I was never much for the mytharc after season 3 anyway but Trust No1 and The Truth are particularly bad cases. 'Nothing important...' isn't as bad and is really only included to make 5.
