Headless body 'not suspicious'

North Wales Police say they are not treating the discovery of a headless body found by children playing on an Anglesey nature reserve as suspicious.

An investigation was launched after the remains were discovered near Holyhead by two boys on Sunday.

They were found was in a derelict building on the Penrhos nature reserve near the Anglesey Aluminium Works

Officers say it is believed that the body had been there for many months and there are no suspicious circumstances.

A pullover was also found nearby.

Police have not said whether the body is that of a man or of a woman.

A Home Office pathologist has been called to examine the remains and a post mortem examination is due to take place later on Bank Holiday Monday.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Not suspicious would mean that it did not have any weapons or sign of struggle. It was probably beheaded to protect the identity of the deceased, or to prevent (unknown) discovery.
