ethsnafu
Salutations Thomas, How wonderful to see you light up the board, my addled mind can barely keep up with the cascade of new posts to be enjoyed. I only wish I could offer you something concrete-solid on your musings but believe that I can dip my toe in the Millennium pond enough to chuck a few reasonable suggestions at you. Whilst it is never stated it is certainly inferred that the 'Elder' that receives The Old Man's compass is a 'Rooster', he concerns himself with eschatology, ponders the mysteries of faith and mentors Peter and Lara, themselves Roosters. His brief flashes are so consciously delivered in shadow that one has to pay attention to the soft malignancy he exudes. As the demise of the temperate power of the Old Man seems to herald the descent of the group into the Qlippoth and an era of polluted politics it can be reasonably deduced that he was coacting with the Legion malignancy that had surfaced as an identifiable third faction during the Owls and Roosters infarction. Or at least that's my take on things?

ethsnafu
i finally saw it, Old Man was a gather of news and information Mighty Joe, Forgive my 'obtuse' moment but would it be ok to ask you to clarify your thoughts on this subject? I adore any 'Old Man' speculation and would love to cogitate upon your ruminations but being decidedly moronic I'm not grasping your point. Are you suggesting the Old Man was a means of disseminating 'news' throughout the Group nexus? A modality of education and of information? I would love to comment but don't feel able to until I am sure I understand your reasoning. Give us more.. Long Live The Old Man
HighPlainsDrifter
after watching Beware of Dog and other Old Man episodes i finally saw that on the "Dog" episode that his job was to collect data on whats going on in the world, and write down his thoughts and facts on paper. but also think he has a gift of all-knowing.
