WHOEVER FIGHTS MONSTERS...

Hi all,

Quick question, hope someone can help.

I'm researching for a Frank Black related project, specifically his time pre-pilot investigating Cuffle. I'm looking for recommendations of profiling books to put me in the right mindset of someone like Frank interviewing a serial killer like Cuffle.

I've found a couple of books from Academy Group members, Whoever Fights Monsters by Robert Ressler and Dark Dreams by Roy Hazelwood. I'm open to any other suggestions.

Cheers

baz

Some of the best books I have read about this subject are from former FBI profile John Douglass. He is the one who started the FBI Profiler unit along with Roy Hazelwood. I would start with his stuff.

Hi Joe,

Good cheers, busy, but good.

Thanks for the recommendations. I went direct to the Academy Group website to find the names of the members who wrote books, Between Good and Evil by Roger L. Depue and Dark Dreams/The Evil That Men Do by Roy Hazelwood. I'll check out the John Douglas.

Amazon's related book search is quite useful. Also found Into the Minds of Madmen: How the FBI's Behavioral Science Unit Revolutionized Crime Investigation by Don Denevi. I think Depue is on the cover of that one.

Some fairly light reading to look forward too :)

May I suggest "Inside the Criminal Mind" by Stanton E. Samenow, Ph.D. This book is endorsed by John Douglas, author of Mindhunter, who is quoted on the front cover saying:

"Utterly compelling reading, full of raw insight into the dark mind of the criminal."

Other endorsements are from:

John G. Gibbs, PH.D., Professor of Developmental Psychology, Ohio State University

Stanley S. Hubbard, Chairman, Hubbard Broadcasting, Inc.

David B. Cohen, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology, University of Texas at Austin

John A Cocoros, Correctional Planning and Program Specialist

David A Ditch, Ph.D., Professor of Clinical Psychiatry, Director, CARTA

If you can't find it, please let me know and I will send you mine.
