once upon a time

:clapping:Once upon a time when I was very young (15) I dated a guy who was a year and a half older than me, and I knew, that, when you date, you have to do things, like find common interests. Well, the guy that I dated, wanted to be a writer, and his friends had decided that they were planning to be writers, and I decided, if I was going to hang with them I would have to be a writer as well. Funny thing, that. Spelling was difficult at best, and I hated English, but I loved to read. So I

Saying Goodbye...

A dear friend of mine is a vet, and she's not only a good vet, but a great vet who is well respected in the medical community. I've known her for about 12 years, and I've seen how she runs her practice- she's got a wonderful way with animals and its the people she just can't stand. Shortly after Huddie was diagnosed, my friend discovered that her beloved Issy had cancer, and from the stage, it was terminal. You would think that as a great vet, she should have caught it, and that there was so

How Fragle Is Life.

Many years ago in may, I bought a house and over the summer time worked at getting it livable. Though I had signed the papers, there was still cleaning (and huge spiders by the hundreds) to deal with. ( I got rid of the living room carpet and the spiders at the same time and the next day counted over 300 new webs in the front yard, so don't tell me about arachnophobia. It was October that I brought Sid into the house, he had been abused and the pet shop was going to kill him because his back

chew on this

on a positive note, i made a recipe for a really good hamburger expensive, but really good you start with portabella mushrooms, and sweet onions, and chop them up realy fine. saute them in a frying pan untill the onions and mushrooms are carmalized , then add them to the ground meat that has one egg and crumbled assiago cheese. form into pattys, and wrap with prochutta. pan frying them works better than grilling. top with pickle, tomato, and your choice of bread. It came in second plac

So, this is life.

The other day I found a baby bird at work, and it had bunje jumped from the nest to the pavement below. It had its feathers, and it was in shock and the others who had fallen to the pavement were too young to survive. From the photo that my husband and I took, it was evident that there was some brusing to the leg, and perhaps the breast bone when the bird landed hard. The parents of the baby bird had been pushing them out of the nest for the last few days, and it being a hot summer day, the babi

in just a day

Yesterday my nephew was on his bike and tried to go up on a curb (something he does all of the time) and he fell off of his bike over the handlebars and broke his collar bone. A guy on the street starts to yell at him for laying on the side walk, and my nephew pulls the corner of his shirt over and shows him the bone thats visibly broken, and the guy is freaking out on him saying hes going to tell his parents, and my nephew says, "great, tell them Im at the hospital" to which his friend and he g

Its been ages

Some of you may remember me, and its been ages. What happened was that my laptop went stupid on me and all of the places that I had gone to went with it. Well, there was actually, more to that- I met a friend of a friend and we became involved, and married three years ago. I started writing childrens books and I became involved in Secondlife.com where I build and I hang out and the greatest mystery is, whats going to be on the menu for dinner. Things have a way of working out. The idiot girl t

yo ho ho just give me the F'n Rum...

its bloody hot out side and I've finaly cut the grass in the back yard, and it takes about 2 hrs to do. So I come in, eat my lunch and call mum who tells me to go out and get stuff to wear for my nieces wedding next week end, and my sister says go to such and such a place because she can go in and pick stuff up and she has no problems at all. To say that I am short, is an understatement. the average pants that I held up in my size would have gone up to my arm pits. People don't understand.

Stop the world, I wanna get off... Im car sick~

So for my job I train people. No biggie. The last person, well, she has been through training twice before and just doesn't seem to grasp the point of what she has to do. Not the brightest bulb in the box, sharpiset tool in the shed etc. so I get to train her a third time, and they say "take as much time as you need..." which turns out to 8 days. (they said three weeks, but she wasn't there half the time. And it got to the point that if I would have crammed one more thing into her head it would

Ok, so, someone sends me a link about a crop circle painting done in 1913, and having a curious mind, I follow it, and it turns out to be a guys blog about getting a painting at an estate sale, and having problems getting it through airport security, and having papers that were hidden in it found. now, I followed it with intrest and read it, and joined the forum because, heck. if I wasn't the curious sort would I be here?? and I don't have time to read everything, or do searches, and I wai

In My Fathers Footsteps.

Some of you may know, as I have spoken of this before- that my father was in world war 2 - and that for 3 years he was a pow in Germany. When he was captured, as all of the military had been told, was to be observant, which my dad was. Dad was able to hide a square of cardboard on him, and on it, he wrote the cities and towns that he was in, and he wrote down service men name whom he met- they all did- if you got freed some how, to get word back to their families. I learned three days ag

I own a house, and car, have 0 debt on my credit card (Note when I say I *own* I also owe on it) but except for the regular utilitys, everything else is free and clear. I have no kids, no spouse, and its funny, No desire for ether. Maybe when I was 20 kids seemed cool, and I was engaged once, asked twice, and I have no regrets. As far as I know, Dave still hasn't

Do You Feel Good By Doing?

today is the 2nd yr aniversary of my dads death and I spent it with my mum. I went out and cut roses from the garden and put them in water and then went to mums and picked her up and took her to church, and while they are giving the list of intentions, the mass for my father, the window next to where we were sitting slowly opened itself and a cool brease brushed past us. We went down to the cemetary, and we cleaned the headstone and put flowers on his grave. I have already made arrangements

In The End, Madness.

The other day mum gave to me the living will of my father, and maybe she was doing it so I would feel better about the choices made about his life, and death. It doesn't. She said for me to shred it when i was done reading it- I can't. I can't distroy it, because, it was one of the most important decisions that my dad made in his life, second only to his decison to marry my mum. My dad died because the drs screwed up. He had a cough that went on for too long and they kept shoving antibio

I was just reading about them sending the space shuttle up and how everything had to be perfect and that there are no spair shuttles if something goes wrong, and that, if they keep on schedule, then the international space station will have been built in the year 2010, and then I remember someone asking me when would the world end?and I said May 5, 2012, and they said, how do you know that? and it was "well, the myan (sp) calender ends on that day- and they have been accurate in predicting comet

I Am A Ngetal

to the celts that means Reed according to my birth month. When I found this out I was a bit dismayes. Reeds. grasses are cut every weekend by the neighborhood kid. but I started reading and I learned that Reeds are survivors, living in very shallow water and when the mighty wind blows and tumbles the oak trees the reed bends to the will of the wind, and then straightens I remembered that in school, the kids who played would take the reed out of their musical instrment and wet it, and (the wetti

Calling A Bluff.

I live in a comunity that has an open door. if the kid is ill, the neighbors go to the store. almost every other person on the block, including me, has cancer. I also, have a washer and dryer and a person whom I know who lost a child to cancer. Short end of the story is, and it is unfathomable to the people on the board, She came over to do laundry when I was at work, which is ok, and she used my computer which is ok, (I have certain areas blocked out but there was a common web site we would go

Daddy There Is An Airoplane In The Sky.

I can see all sides, really- the whys and wherefors and the truth in mens eyes as they wish to live their lives in the peace they have created as their own. and I wonder if in the path of things, if , somehow, something greater than us would unite the world to end the conflicts. Independence day was a movie that showed this- we are not ready, our world is young we have much to learn, and no time to learn past the mistakes of our forefathers.yet we long for the warm sun, the cool brease and the

The Big Kiss Goodbye.

Well,My brother KP got a letter from his ex wife and she was letting him know she is asking the church for an anulment. Seems her great uncle is a monsigner , and it would allow her to be remarried in the church and still recieve communion. My brother hasn't been told the grounds for this, but, she has filed charges of child abuse against him last month because, well, Their daughter was running outside allong the rail road ties on the back yard even after KP told her to not do it, and she slipp

Taking Offense Of Written Word...

someone made a ruling the other day saying they couldn't keep a copy of the ten comandments in the court room.
