Snow Files of the Week: "Main Title/Having a Baby/All about Ned" from "Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All" (1994).

This score shows Mark's orchestral side, combining beautiful themes with sweeping strings and a little bit of Americana.

The album was released by Milan Records and still can be found for reasonable prices. It's definitely worth it.

Enjoy!

Snow Files of the Week: "Fries and Faith/Discreet Distance" from "The X-Files", episode "Talitha Cumi" (1996).

Another season finale, this time season 3. Jeremiah Smith makes his first appearance in this episode and more details about the relationship between Mulder's mother and the Cigarette Smoking Man surface. The episode's cliffhanger is a meeting between Mulder, Scully and Smith, when suddenly the alien bounty hunter shows up.

Mark always put even more effort into creating outstanding music for the final episodes of each season. His dark, brooding ambient soundscapes mix with his haunting piano themes and etheral choir passages.

These two tracks are taken from the second volume of X-Files music by La-La Land Records. The set is limited to 3.000 copies.

Enjoy!

Snow Files of the Week: "UFO Technology/Transfer And Release" from The X-Files, episode "Deep Throat" (1993).

In the first season of The X-Files the musical direction wasn't that clear already. Mark tried things out, improvised and created soundscapes never heard before. With "Deep Throat", Mark established not only the theme for the character Deep Throat, but continued his path deeper into the realms of ambient soundscapes.

These two tracks are taken from the third volume of X-Files music by La-La Land Records. The set is limited to 3.000 copies.

Enjoy!

Snow Files of the Week: "The Rescue" from the tv movie "Smoke Jumpers" (1996).

This was another chance for Mark to venture further into the world of orchestral scoring. "Smoke Jumpers" is a tv movie from 1996, starring Adam Baldwin, about a group of firefighters that jump from helicopters to extinguish fires. The track here, "The Rescue", shows, that Mark can indeed write bold and heroic music. It's different from his electronic sounds, but nevertheless worth a listen or two.

Enjoy!

Listened to this many times now, and each time it finished, I had to hear it again.  It was so relaxing for some reason, that I still can't remember the melody.  Never had that happen before.  Wow!  I am going to listen to it again, but I am not going to do anything this time, except be still and listen.

Thank you Alex, for another  spiritual experience from Mark.  :23:

Snow Files of the Week: "Ernest Saves Christmas/Christmas Spirit" from the movie "Ernest Saves Christmas" (1988).

It's that time of the year again and Mark Snow joins the celebration with this jolly score. Performed by an orchestra this score shows Mark in perfect Christmas spirit, very different from his more darker ambient stuff.

The score hasn't been released officially yet, there is only a promotional CD out there. Maybe someday we'll see a proper release.

Enjoy!
