Millennium - A Guide to the various Episode Numbering/Ordering
One area of interest in Millennium that can cause confusion for new viewers and indeed established fans of the series is the numbering of the show's episodes. The majority of episode guides that have been published on the Internet over the years have copied the same episode order contained in Fox's original 1996 Episode Guide that was available on the original official website for the show (long since gone). This listed the episodes in the same order as they appeared on Television and the majority of fans accept this as being the most accurate way to list the episodes in order.
There are some Millennium fans who might prefer to see an episode guide list the episodes in order of Ten Thirteen Production Code number, perhaps as a homage to Ten Thirteen who created the series for Fox. However, even this is not the way Ten Thirteen Productions actually intended the episodes to be aired. For example, Season 2's The Pest House (5C15) was filmed for production reasons in between Owls (5C14) and Roosters (5C16), yet Ten Thirteen originally intended for the two episodes, clearly a two-part episode to be shown back to back.
As you can see by comparing the order of the episodes in the tables below, Twentieth Century Fox assigned #MLM-Codes to each episode in the same order that Ten Thirteen numbered them when they were produced. However, network decisions and influences combined with real-life events, forced the TV network scheduling to differ from this order; one such often quoted example being Season One's Kingdom Come.† This was the first episode to be aired out of production order. The reason given was that a senior Roman Catholic prelate, Cardinal Joseph Bernardin had died on November 14, 1996, the day before Kingdom Come was due to air and it was therefore rescheduled out of respect. However, some at the time (perhaps the more cynical minded) thought that this may have been a 'publicity ploy' by Fox to bolster Millennium's falling ratings by putting it back in the news.
However, both the numerous worldwide Television Networks that have aired the series over the years and the official DVD release of Millennium adhere to Fox's original broadcast order, and as this is what the majority of fans are familar with, we have also chosen to list episodes in this same order throughout our Episode and Credits Guide.

This comparison page lists side by side the episodes in their various ordering, so that you can easily compare them against each other and see where the order of the episodes differed. The tables below will show you the order of Millennium's episodes by:
- #MLM-Code (numbers created by 20th Century Fox in the same order as 1013's Production Codes.)
- Air Date (Fox's original US Television scheduling order, the order that we are probably most familar with and the one influenced by real-life events.)
- Ten Thirteen Production Code (the original identifying production codes added to the episodes as they were filmed.)
- Retail DVD box set order (which as you can see is the same order as the episodes originally aired in the US.)
Please note that for easy comparison, you need a minimum screen display size of 1024x768 to display these tables in their intended 4 across, side by side layout. Abbreviated episode titles are used on this page.
