PEYMAN _ DORIS CHILLCOTT
Born in Vancouver on December 29, 1930, Doris passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 19, 2006 after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Doris was a gifted actress with a career in theatre, radio, television and film that spanned more than five decades. Over the years she received many awards and much critical acclaim for her performances across Canada, and most recently she was inducted into the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame. She shared her love of theatre and literature with her many students, teaching drama and staging productions at secondary and post-secondary institutions across the Lower Mainland. Passionate about theatre, art, politics and life, Doris generously gave her time and energies to many local community organizations. At the heart of Doris' remarkable life was the love and devotion she shared with her family.
Doris will be deeply missed by her loving husband Bruce Peyman, their children Hurrian, Orin, Orissa and Ravana (Matthews), son-in-law Simon Matthews, grandchildren Jasmine, Jeremy and Oliver, brother Gordon Chillcott, sister-in-law Jamela, nephew Sean and many close friends, relatives and colleagues.
The memorial was held on Thursday, December 7 at 11:00 am, Heritage Hall, 3102 Main Street with a reception from 12:30 until 3:00. In lieu of flowers, donations were to be made in her name to Doctors Without Borders or the Actors' Fund of Canada.
